My boy Gus has got to be the most not picky cat ever lol. Covered or uncovered litter box, front entrance, side entrance, top entrance. What litter is used. His food, human grade or commercial, wet or dry. He does not care, as long as he’s fed, and as long as he has his place to do his business.
And to top it off, while he was not feral, he was a stray the first 6 to 7 months of his life. Used to people, being fed and picked up so friendly regardless. Adapted to house life very quickly without issue. Has never once growled, hissed, or swiped at the vet while getting his vaccinations done. Didn’t even flitch during shots.
The only issues I’ve had with him, besides not being a fan of a bath, because of course not, is I can’t keep him off the counter no matter what I do. I’ve tried basically everything. And I have to keep him out of my room at night. Because he will wake me multiple times at ungodly hours for attention otherwise.
He’s chill lol.
I exclusively use covered litter boxes, and that’s because of my own family’s hygiene priorities! We have two cats and three litter boxes. Each box is placed in a part of the living space where we spend little time. Open litter boxes might be better for the cat, but they result in much more litter being scattered around. I scoop the boxes and vacuum around them every day, yet litter still ends up in the farthest corners of the home — even with covered boxes. The goal is for the cat to feel comfortable in the apartment, but it’s not the goal for the apartment to turn into a cat cave, with mess everywhere.
I like stainless steel litter boxes. Easy to clean and the steel doesn’t harbor bacteria.
I realized she isn’t here….
Really she can’t be replaced
