  1. Hi doc , i have a question , i was feeding my senior dog with royal canin ageing 12+ which calcium levels were 0.43–1.00 % and phosphorus levels were 0.30–0.71 % , but i dont know why lately there is a different version available which calcium levels are 0.63–1.17 % and phosphorus levels are 0.42–0.78 % , would that little amount extra be a problem for my dog’s health , i dont know why but the other foods like eukanuba or proplan are way higher in terms of calcium and phosphorus .

  2. Thank you so much for this information. 🙏🏼 My senior pup just recently passed away from kidney disease and I am looking for a better food to feed my other senior (11 yr old) dog in hopes of reducing his risk. Based on the guidelines you gave the Hill’s Science Diet Adult 7+ Small & Mini Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dog Food meets all the nutritional requirements other than calcium (but coming close at 0.8%).

  3. I hope the blue label senior is just as good, I just moved my senior husky to it since Hills has been the only real working food for my household

  4. Hill’s has since reformulated this product. Yellow peas is now further down the list. I am curious whether they did this for marketing- consumers are told not to have legumes in the top 5 ingredients- or being cautionary, or if they had research reveal something, or something else entirely different. For some reason, the vitamin E is reduced from roughly 1400IU to 1000IU. The amount of L-carnitine is no longer listed. None of this may mean anything, but it would be nice if they explained these things for consumers who are paying attention.
